Colibri - girasol

I am one of the co-creators of Colibri. Colibri.tpi ( Hummingbird.Tpi) is a theatre group that aims to promote poetry, illustration and theatre, combining different languages and reaching different audiences. It is a group with very specific characteristics, working in a unique way in terms of art (each piece is thought by plastic artists, actors and directors working together). Colibri works especially with children. Colibri intends, also, to play a very strong social role by combining different artistic languages. girasol is one of its productions.

About girasol:

“One, two, three! A trio of voices, characters.

- Are they poets ?, are they children? - They are waking up for the world, revealling this small place of great wonders around them. It is like a new world through words, playful and humorous. In this space, everything seems to revolve around the sun.

gira sol (sunflower) is therefore the tittle of a show for all ages, invented and built from texts from the book Breviary of the Sun (Caminho, 2002) by Francisco Duarte Mangas and João Pedro Messeder.

gira sol: a single moment of magic, poetry and grace.” João Pedro Mésseder, 2016, after watching the show gira sol .

“gira sol”, a poetic spectacle for children created from the Breviary of the Sun, written by Francisco Duarte Mangas and Joao Pedro Messeder. A collective creation of an actress, Grace Ochoa, an artist, Helena Mancelos and musician, Jonas Andrade, all present on scene. Through staging, music and design (which happens also in real time) each poem of “Breviary of the Sun” sun’s path for one day scrolls through: the dawn, the sun settles and burning, the sun that lows, the absence of sun, night and the reborning of the sun, each day. We invite the audience to go with us on this path.
